Our Toy Finishes And Available Firmnesses

What are all these different finishes, and how do you know what "finish" you'll recieve?
All of our finishes are beautiful, even as we constantly adjust to better our business and models! As DTE is a moving beast we are always updating to the newest finish available as molds retire, while simultaneously releasing all new toys.
But what are the available finishes, and what do they feel like?

Satin

Satin is our baseline quality. This is, simply put, the current industry standard: smooth, with a satiny finish. Bad Dragon is what we would consider a "satin finish". Many of our molds, especially ones with swells or knots that require stretching to demold, will quickly become this finish over time until the mold retires.

Polished

We like this "between" finish! Not quite Glass, not quite Satin, this finish is somewhat like quality polished wood. Many of our swell or knotted toys begin here, then return to Satin over time.

Glass

Simply put, the glossiest, glassiest finish we can currently achieve. Many customers love the way it feels, and we love the way this finish allows a model to show off a pour in the best possible way. However, like glass this finish allows any small imperfection to show: any small scuffs from demolding show on this finish.

Have you considered mixed finishes on one model?

We have! When Reaver was initially released in 2018, the model included Satin on one side, and Polished on the other. However, we quickly decided the difference isn't as noticeable for the amount of trouble it took to accomplish! Now, all molds are One Finish At A Time to keep our sanity (and to keep molds running longer than a couple weeks).
